Bradfield Festival of Music
22nd – 29th June 2024

A week of glorious music in a magical setting
The award winning Bradfield Festival of Music is an annual, week-long celebration of classical music held in the last week of June.  Established for over 25 years, the Festival attracts the finest artists from all over the world, who collectively perform a wide range of music genres, broadly within the classical tradition.

All concerts are held in the historic, Grade I listed Parish Church of St Nicholas, High Bradfield, Sheffield, South Yorkshire with its particularly fine acoustics and beautiful views over the undulating landscapes of the Peak District National Park.

Further details and ticket information can be found on the Festival website.

Event Programme:

Doors open: 18:45, concerts start: 19:30 and end around 21:30, with an interval of 20 minutes.

22 June 2024: Sheffield Chamber Choir

With a well deserved reputation for the beauty of their singing, the Sheffield Chamber Choir open the Festival with sacred choral works by Britten, Vaughan Willams, Elgar and others.

24 June 2024: Jeneba Kanneh-Mason - Piano

We welcome back BBC Young Musician Keyboard finalist 2018 and Proms soloist 2021, who’s emotionally charged and technically brilliant piano playing thrilled us in 2022.  Jeneba will be performing repertoire spanning the last 300 years with works by Scarlatti, Chopin, Grant Still and Prokofiev.

25 June 2024: Ben Goldscheider Duo: Ben Goldscheider - Horn, Richard Uttley - Piano

An exciting evening with this superb Horn player performing some of the most virtuosic works in the repertoire: music in turn that is technically challenging, melodically beautiful, lyrical and flamboyant.

26 June 2024: Lisa Friend Trio

Lisa has gained widespread recognition as a solo flautist, chamber musician and recording artist. With Mark Kincaid (Piano) and Martin Radford (Cello) she performs popular classical and film music, including works by Donizetti, Morricone, Piazolla and Bernstein.

27 June 2024: Camerata RCO

Camerata RCO: the chamber ensemble of the Concertgebouw Orchestra perform intimate string and piano quintets by Dvorak and Schumann.

28 June 2024: Consone Quartet

Experience classical and romantic music expressively performed in period style. The multiple award winning Consone Quartet, the first period instrument ensemble to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists, have performed across Europe and America. Their recent recordings of Haydn and Mendelssohn Quartets are highly acclaimed.  With performances variously described as brilliant, exhilarating, sensitive, honest and something special we are delighted to welcome the Consone Quartet to Bradfield performing quartets by Haydn, Mozart and Czerny.

29 June 2024: Tim Kliphuis Trio

The festival closes with the Tim Kliphuis Trio – a unique genre defying blend of classical gypsy jazz and folk music styles with the improvisatory genius of Tim Kliphuis and friends and we look forward to this being an exhilarating finale to a fabulous festival. Tim Kliphuis and his Trio (Nigel Clark (guitar) and Roy Percy (double bass)) present a brand new Pictures at an Exhibition, showcasing the daring innovations of Mussorgsky’s music through a unique and exciting lens followed up with works by Django Reinhardt.
